Broke Horse Farm
Broke Horse Farm is located on the west side of the Teton Range in Teton County Idaho. It overlooks Darby Canyon and Fox Creek Canyon to the east. Looking south is the Snake River Range. The west is the Big Hole Mountains. Teton Valley is the headwaters for the Teton River which flows north for 64 mile tributary of the Henry’s fork of the Snake River. There are two towns which are 4 miles away. Driggs is north of BHF and Victor is south of BHF.
History
Broke Horse Farms began from a conversation between Michele and her husband. Broke Horse Farm can be interpreted either way, as broke in the dollar sense or as in a broke or gentled horse to ride. Every horse owner jokes about being broke at some point or at least that horses will make you go broke. The past years Michele has rescued over 50 animals from animal control surrenders. Undernourished, starved, wild, scared or not broke the animals were brought into a home with kindness, patience and nutrition. Using “Natural Horsemanship” techniques many of the horses became riding and showing horses. UsingIf you have more to your story, please write it down for me.
Broke Horse Farm began with simple organic ingredients for horse cookies. Flour and oats from huge fields of the high mountain foothills of Idaho and Montana. Organic carrots that are not bagged in plastic and not soaked in bleach. High mountain apples. Organic molasses which will make your horse smack his lips. Michele began making them for her horses, clients, and friends and soon discovered that a healthy treat should be shared with all.
Broke Horse Farm will begin short-term boarding in July 2022. Traveling through this incredible country? Take a break and some time off to enjoy Teton Valley and the incredible trails that surround the area.
